The B.A.R.N. Backstory Project
I love listening to someone tell a good story; especially when the story is rooted in a personal experience that teaches, inspires, and encourages further thought. It can be a friend telling about an interesting experience, or Johnny Cash delivering Robert Service’s famous The Cremation of Sam McGee, or Adele singing Someone Like You – there’s something that draws us in and makes it personal.
With this in mind, we introduced the B.A.R.N. Backstory element to our 2017 summer season of wine/craft beer dinners in the barn. B.A.R.N. is the Live Well Farm acronym for Business, Arts, Recreation, N-richment/N-couragement/N-spiration. These presentations are TED(-ish) type talks except they’re less ‘important’, more fun, and without pretense. Each dinner, between the entree and dessert course we commission someone who’s ‘been there, done that’ to prepare and tell the backstory behind their unique B.A.R.N. experience. Entrepreneurs, musicians, pioneers, adventure seekers, and even a U.S. Navy Blue Angel have shared a 'behind the scenes' story of their world in a 12-minute presentation.
We're currently finalizing our lineup for the 2018 season which will launch in June. Watch for our upcoming newsletter to see what we have planned. Same great 5-course dinner and 5 unique wine offerings with a little intellectual stimulation to round out the evening.
